About HAP

A Different Kind of Support

Hopeful Authentic Pathways (HAP) is a mobile, non-clinical, community-based consulting practice offering a unique model of mental and behavioural health support for males with mental health and addiction concerns who are integrating or re-integrating from institutional or shelter settings in PEI, with animal-assisted activities.

We believe healing happens in community — not behind closed doors. Our peer-led approach removes barriers and brings support directly to where you live, work, and connect.

We Meet You Where You're At

Transportation is one of the biggest barriers to support in PEI. HAP is fully mobile — we come to you. Whether you're in Charlottetown, Summerside, or a rural community, we remove that barrier entirely.

Voices from the Community

First names only — because privacy matters. These are real words from real men who found their footing.

When my mom first handed me the info for Hopeful Authentic Pathways, I completely expected more of the same cold, ticking-a-box routine meetings I had on the inside. I was wrong. I found a space where I could just be a man trying to figure out how to get his life back. Zero judgment, no rushing me. Just real, down-to-earth support. The dog is always pumped to see me and always knew exactly when I needed a distraction. They gave me solid, practical advice on how to handle life out here. I've been clean for 14 months now—something I used to think was totally impossible for me. They helped me handle my court conditions, get back to seeing my kids, and now I'm living a decent life. I'm incredibly grateful my family cared enough to pay for this, because I honestly don't know where I'd be without this program. Forever thankful.
